DROMOS are from North London, started back in 2019. This is their first full album after a couple of tracks they put out on Dry Cough last year. Coming out May 15th on Argonauta. Some of the guys have been in Grave Miasma and other underground bands, so they know what they’re doing with heavy music.
It’s funeral doom, really slow and crushing, but it has this weird hazy, psychedelic thing going on that stops it feeling like one long miserable slog. The riffs take forever to move but when they do it’s heavy as hell. There are these drifting parts that open everything up and make it feel bigger, almost like the sound is filling the room around you.
The single My Final Tomb is a big one, over 10 minutes easy, and it just slowly takes over. Lots of dense layers and this heavy ceremonial feel to it. The rest of the album follows the same path – slow, thick, and properly immersive. Not something you’d chuck on while cooking or driving. You kind of have to sit with it.
Only had a few listens so far, but it’s the kind of record that feels like it’ll grow on you the more you play it. If you like your doom proper slow, heavy and atmospheric with some psych edge, this is a good one. Solid debut from the London scene. I’ll be sticking it on again when it’s late and quiet.
And now, itās time to enjoy the album in full – hereās the exclusive premiere:
